Bourbon biscuits can be traced back to Bourbon County in Kentucky and it is said that the name derives from Bourbon whiskey which was originally made there.
Bourbon whisky has a strong and distinctive flavours and it is believed that Bourbon biscuits were so-named because they also have a rich, sweet taste. Bourbon biscuits are very simple to make at home here’s how:
Ingredients:
* 1 cup of caster sugar *1 cup of butter softened * 2 cups of plain flour * ½ tsp baking soda
Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy Sift in the flour and baking soda Add just enough water for the mixture to bind together into a dough.
Roll out to about 5mm thick Cut into shapes Bake in oven 180°C for about 10 minutes or until lightly golden Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack.

Bourbon biscuits are best eaten within a few days of baking. Bourbon biscuits can also be frozen once baked if not being consumed immediately. Bourbon biscuits make great gifts, especially at Christmas time!
